Badge Integrations Task Force

This task force worked to identify recommendations for improving integrations between badge platforms and other educational technology systems.

As educational institutions increasingly adopt digital badge platforms, some users begin to experience the inefficiencies of incorporating a new system into existing instructional and administrative processes and technologies. Teachers want to automatically award badges based on student achievements as tracked in the learning management or evaluation systems. Administrators would like to award badges based on criteria typically stored in the student information system such as academic honors, special program completion, or other identifiers. Students may want to submit coursework as evidence for earning badges.

Data interoperability and systems integration—particularly between the LMS, SIS, and badge platforms—are important advances necessary to improve efficiencies and ensure data integrity.
